Yara has developed a technology that reduces emissions of nitrous oxide from nitric acid production by 90 percent. In a short time, BIS Production Partner Interpipe in Stenungsund has signed two major maintenance contracts. The agreement with Perstorp Oxo AB includes planning and execution of turnarounds for a period of more than two years. The contract with Preem AB contains pipe and welding work under the company's turnaround in October 2011.
Roy Vardheim has recently been employed as Vice President with business responsibility for BIS Production Partner in Finland, Denmark and Iceland. Vardheim came from Borealis and has been heading the company both in Norway and Scandinavia.
BIS Production Partner IPEC has signed a new frame agreement for the supply of maintenance and modification services at Elkem/Orkla business in Kristansand.
BIS Production Partner in Mosjøen has started converting six smelter-furnaces at Alcoa from oil/propane operation to gas (LNG); the conversion work is progressing well. Major piping has been completed, and on May 15th the first furnace will be fired up. The conversion is to be completed by early autumn 2011.
Norway’s only heat exchanger bundle puller; a Peineman 40T, is stationed in Porsgrunn, Telemark. The investment is part of BIS Production Partner’s strategic planning for the turnaround market, and will improve our services for the large industrial customers.
On Thursday March 3rd BIS PP Oy signed a frame agreement with Neste Oil. The agreement covers maintenance and minor projects of mechanical, electro,

The turnaround at Mongstad has been BIS Production Partner turnaround’ largest project this year. A major aspect of this assignment is that it presents a model for such work in the future. The assignment was “target cost”, and we participated in the planning utilizing our customer’s planning systems and tools. I addition to our own work, BIS Production Partner was responsible for coordination of all work performed on the industrial site A2 at Mongstad during the turnaround.
During a two-month period 70 to 80 employees in BIS Production Partner and their working partners have been participating in courses and have been certified for flange-work.

It is now 10 years since personnel from ”Plastverkstedet” (the plastic-shop) were in Qatar first time. That was a job for Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO). 10 years ago ”Plastverkstedet” was part of Hydro’s operations. Today the shop operates under BIS Production Partner Verkstedproduksjon in Porsgrunn. Personnel still travels to Quatar for consulting, utilizing their plastic materials competency.
Neste Oil Corporation in Porvoo in Finland has scheduled three weeks stop of production in April for a turnaround. 3000 personnel participate in the project; 100 from BIS Production Partner. This turnaround is among the largest in Scandinavia, and we have not previously participated in a turnaround of this magnitude, states Turnaround Manager Dag Tore Johnsen.
On January 1st. 2010, BIS Production Partner, Sweden West, took over the maintenance at Eka Chemicals AB in Bohus. The contract has a five-year duration.
BIS Production Partner Norge has signed an agreement with Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC) consisting of consultancy and other services within maintenance, rotating machinery, fireproofing and deliveries from the plastics workshop.
BIS Production Partners’ Maintenance Consultancy department prepares the maintenance programme for the world’s largest aluminium plant, which is being built in Qatar. The programme should be ready when the plant is commissioned at the beginning of next year.
BIS Production Partner AB has together with the Petrochemical Company BOREALIS in Stenungsund signed a long-term partnership contract which covers all production related maintenance work, preparation of maintenance work and preventive maintenance on the Borealis cracker plant, as well as polyethylene plants.
This was, in short, the message Thomas Töpfer, CEO BIS and Morten Mathisen, chairman of the board of BIS Production Partner Sweden, gave to the maintenance personnel in Stenungsund.
