One of the largest planned shutdowns in the Nordic Contries
Neste Oil Corporation in Porvoo in Finland has scheduled three weeks stop of production in April for a turnaround. 3000 personnel participate in the project; 100 from BIS Production Partner. This turnaround is among the largest in Scandinavia, and we have not previously participated in a turnaround of this magnitude, states Turnaround Manager Dag Tore Johnsen.
Co-operation
Before the actual stop of production, BIS Production Partner shall have performed major preparations for a comprehensive project. The project consists of refurbishing a FCC-unit.
BIS Production Partner has worked on this project since September 2009. 8-10 workers of Scancon Industrimontage AB are now erecting steel, and 4 welders of Interpipe AB work with prefabrication.
BIS Production Partner and Neste Oil are contractual partners; but we are dependent on the skills and competency of our subcontractors for completing this project. The project is therefore a co-operation project of BIS Production Partner Norway, BIS Production Partner Sweden and Scancon, tells Johnsen.
The project shall be completed during the turnaround in April. During the turnaround BIS Production Partner shall perform re-building and installation of new process equipment. 100 personnel will be engaged during the implementation phase.
This is exciting because we will complete the project during a turnaround, "said Johnsen. We have our own project team working towards Neste Oils turnaround organization.
BIS Production Partner is proud of the confidence given us in this project. We have the responsibility for one of the most critical activities during the turnaround. This alone is a recognition of us as we are new to such an extensive turnaround project.
Establisment in Finland
Finland is a new marked for us, and we have recently established BIS Finland OY to facilitate further growth in Finland. The contract is worked through this recently established company. In the long run we seek to establish a site in Porvoo. An established site will improve opportunities for future deliveries to the industry in the area.
Porvoo is an industry-cluster which suits BIS Production Partner well. Neste Oil has a refinery and a petro-chemical complex in the area. Crude Oil is transported in from Russia by railway for processing; finished products are then shipped out on the market. Borealis is also established in the region
We are followed up closely by Neste Oil since we are new in the area. There are great expectations to our performance and deliveries.
New Market
Finland is a new market for BIS Production Partner. The competition is more fierce in Finland than in the Norwegian market. Contract prices are effected by the vicinity of east-European.
BIS Production Partner was awarded this contract because we presented a sound and good mixture of project participants, which is important in this market. We must show the ability to perform and complete the contract with quality. The pricing of our services must of course be competitive.
